Welcome to Anno 1685 - A Golden Age
Monument Set in the heart of
historical and cultural Amsterdam, with a large variety of cafes and
restaurants, (two of them a few houses away), historical and modern, a
surprisingly quiet oasis in the middle of a world city.

Anno 1685 is situated between the Keizersgracht and the Prinsengracht. The property is one of five stately canal houses which were built beside each other in the 17th Century to replace an Italian Opera House where a number of wealthy families and artists throughout the ages lived. Here lived a number of wealthy families and artists throughout the ages.
Accommodation
Two adults and one or two children can enjoy living in a Bed & Breakfast apartment on different levels with your own separate entrance facing the canal. There is a beautiful view directly over one of the most beautiful central grachts in Amsterdam. Also suitable for singles, both on holiday or for work.
From the charming kitchen you reach a large bedroom. One step from your bed
through double doors is your own little garden, with a covered wind free
breakfast terrace . The property has been very recently restorated and
refurbished with many historical details to it. It is 60 square metres and has
all the luxury you might like: a large LCD television, free internet via cable,
complete kitchen (oven and microwave). Newly fitted bathroom.
Suitability For Children
Breakfast can be found at one of the many cafe's around the corner, or you
can prepare it in your own kitchen
(shops nearby). On request it can also be prepared for you:
pot of tea or coffee, bread and
croissant, jam, fresh orange juice, egg, cheese, yoghurt with muesli, and hot
milk for cafe latte.

Many of our guests use our two bikes (one female, one male) which are for hire in front of your entrance on the canal. You can see the whole city at your own leisure, and watch its life and get to architectural or cultural points of interest with ease and fun. Some of which you might otherwise not see: the medieval town and its small canals, streets with "Amsterdamse School", tour around the Ijsselmeer on a "dijk" with pretty fishing villages such as the sailing harbours Durgerdam or Monnickendam, the new brilliant Muziekgebouw an het Ij, or life in the Jordaan. Plenty of maps and suggestions in the apartment.
We supply you with info and tips on bike tours or organized historical walks
